Conor McGregor involved in altercation with Machine Gun Kelly at MTV VMA's after musician 'refused a

Conor McGregor found himself involved in a heated altercation with musician Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV VMA's on Sunday night.

The pair were seen exchanging words on the red carpet in New York as photos were being taken before the glamorous event started.

TMZ report that McGregor asked for a photo with Machine Gun Kelly, but that request was turned down.

The Irish MMA star did not take too kindly to the apparent snub and a small scuffle broke out.

MCK, born Colson Baker, reportedly pushed McGregor and he stumbled, spilling some of his drink.

Before it became a brawl, actor Megan Fox stepped in to lead her musician boyfriend away.

McGregor is believed to have thrown what was left of his drink at the pair as they walked away from the incident.

Joking about the meeting, UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal said his money would be on Kelly.

"Yo Triller, set this up," he wrote, addressing the broadcaster that has put on shows featuring Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

"In a five rounder I got my money on Machine Gun Kelly."

McGregor, though, played the whole thing down when he spoke to Entertainment Tonight.

“Absolutely nothing [happened],” he said.

“I don’t know. I just showed up and I don’t know. I don’t even know the guy to be honest with you. Just rumours. Nothing happened with me.

"I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight. I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

McGregor, 33, was seen using cane at the event as he continues his recovery from a broken tibia and fibula.

He suffered the horrendous injury towards the end of the first round of his UFC 264 clash with Dustin Poirier.

The fight was stopped immediately and McGregor was stretchered out of the octagon.

Surgery happened quickly with a titanium rod being placed in his leg to help repair the damage.
